Izvješćujemo Vas da su predstavnici UMSTGEH aktivno sudjelovali na međunarodnom stručnom skupu medicinskih sestara u gastroenterologiji i endoskopiji u organizaciji European Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Nurses and Associates (ESGENA) i Swedish Society of Endoscopy and GE Nurses and Assistants (SEGP) u sklopu 19. Europskog ujedinjenog gastroenterološkog tjedna (UEGW) koji se održavao u Stockholmu, Kraljevina Švedska od 22. – 24- listopada ove godine.
Iz Republike Hrvatske na konferenciji je sudjelovalo izaslanstvo u sastavu:

· Nena Markić (KB „Dubrava“) – članica UMSTGEH
· Gizela Jakupčević (KBC „Split“) – član izvršnog odbora UMSTGEH

· Kristina Čor (KBC „Zagreb“) – članica UMSTGEH
· Rade Novičić (Zatvorska bolnica u Zagrebu) – član UMSTGEH
Jadranka Brljak, osim obavljanja svojih redovitih zadaća članice upravnog odbora ESGENA-e aktivno je sudjelovala u organizaciji i vođenju radionica, predavanjem pod naslovom „Management of epidemic diarrhoea“ te kao koautorica postera pod naslovom „Three centre study of theory to practice of cannulation in endoscopy“. Koautorice ovog postera bile su i Sylvia Lahey (Rijnstate Hospital, Arnhem, The Netherlands) i Jayne Tillett (Emerson Green NHS Treatment Centre, Bristol, UK).
Rade Novičić aktivno je sudjelovao s posterskom prezentacijom pod naslovom „Nursing professions in researching the prevalence of viral hepatitis in the prison population in Croatia“. Ovaj poster proglašen je najboljim na ovogodišnjem skupu ESGENA-e.

“NURSING PROFESSIONS IN RESEARCHING THE PREVALENCE OF VIRAL HEPATITIS IN THE PRISON POPULATION IN CROATIA”
Introduction: Viral hepatitis is a major public health problem worldwide. The biggest risk group make intravenous addicts, followed by addicted to alcohol and promiscuous people. The highest concentration of risky behavior of people is in prisons. Nurses are health professionals who are most in contact with an infected population and health professionals with whom patients most interact in prison environment. On these facts are based opportunities that nurses can and must use in preventing and suppressing expansion viral hepatitis.
Aim: The aim is to introduce professional audience with the results of expert studies the prevalence of viral hepatitis, carried out in the prison system of Croatia and contribution and activities that it made nursing profession as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Metohod: We conducted a cross-sectional study aimed to determine the prevalence of viral hepatitis in the prison population. The study included 4800 subjects from all prison establishments in the Republic of Croatia.
Results: The prevalence of hepatitis B in the prison population increased by 5.6 times compared to the general population, the prevalence of hepatitis C increased by 8.5 times. Of the total number of respondents between 25% - 30% belongs to the group of drug addicts. In drug users population infection with hepatitis B virus is about 30%, and hepatitis C about 50%.
Summary: The results of the study indicated that the prevalence of viral hepatitis is more times higher in the prison population in relation to the general population. Bad habits and ignorance are the cause of expansion of disease within the population at risk. The prison population is not an isolated group of people. Between the imprisonment environment and the general population constantly migrating thousands of people. Migration course the spread of infection from a prison environment in the general population.
Conclusion: The results indicated the need to implement preventive and curative measures in the prison population. It was established Prison System Viral Hepatitis Counseling Center. The Center acts as an integral part of the Department of Internal Medicine of Prison Hospital. Department of Internal Medicine with Counseling Center conducted a unique project that consists of the procedures of prevention, detection and treatment of patients. In all these activities, the key role of nursing care.
